Born This Way
A poignant but unsettling portrait of lesbian and gay people in Central Africa, Shaun Kadlec and Deb Tullmann‘s film about Cameroon’s queer underground spotlights a community dealing with some of the harshest laws against homsexuality anywhere in the world. Shot in guerilla style, we meet people like Gertrude and Cedric, alongside workers at a clandestine safe-house and human rights lawyer and advocate, Alice.
Born This Way is both heart-wrenching and heart-warming, a moving documentary that offers an intensely personal insight into day-to-day life for some in modern Africa.
