GOTYE
JUST CAN’T GET ENOUGH

One of a number of GOTYE recordings from Groovescooter’s back catalogue, recorded before his meteoric rise to worldwide fame, is now available digitally for Valentine’s Day (when Gotye also joined us live for our In Conversation series one year on his return trip from the Grammy Awards). A startling cover version of the early Depeche Mode classic, this version was recorded in Gotye’s home in Victoria sitting at his piano, stripping it bare and flipping it into a minor key. The results are a million miles from the song’s synth-pop origins. With additional FX and a final mix by Groovescooter, the tune had some radio love early on as part the Triple J Feature Album it hails from – Groovescooter’s Re-fashioned Vol 2 British Airwaves – and later on YouTube where it clocked up tens of thousands of plays.

Released digitally February 14, 2019
Originally released on CD in 2004.
Concept, piano and vocals by Wally De Backer
Additional sounds and final mix by Mothloop/Groovescooter
