OYOBI w/KAIMÁN JIMÉNEZ + KAREN LEE ANDREWS
THE BOTTLE / EL TRAGO 7″ VINYL

Brand new Latin vinyl bomb from Sydney trio OYOBI featuring dancefloor-ready interpretations of the GIL SCOTT-HERON classic The Bottle. On the A-side, right-on politico-poet Gil Scott-Heron’s streetwise tune gets a a SPANISH-language workout featuring Colombian-born vocalist KAIMÁN JIMÉNEZ (from the ARIA Nominated band Watussi and el Gran Mono Picó Sound System). On the B-side, completely different Latin rhythms with timbale roles, a punchy bass motif and NuYorican-style piano underscore Oyobi’s second workout which rides a clubbier backbeat and features the original English lyrics delivered by sublime singer and longtime collaborator KAREN LEE ANDREWS. Vinyl 45 comes in sturdy white card sleeve & protective PVC wallet with bonus stickers. Stay tuned for the upcoming Zepherin Saint remix.

“…We’re bowled over by this slice of true newness. First up is a jubilant buzzer shared with Colombia’s finest, picó sound system legend Kaiman Jimenez; ‘The Bottle / El Trago’ pairs crisp hatwork with two-stepping syncopations… On the B-side comes an alternate version with Karen Lee Andrews… which to us lime-juicers reveals a pensive take on alcoholism. No reason to not get up and dance, though!” [Juno, UK]

Both tracks are available only on this limited-edition slice of 7 inch vinyl. Vinyl purchase includes full-quality downloads of both sides and stickers. BUY YOUR COPY NOW.
