LONG DISTANCE REVOLUTIONARY A Journey with MUMIA ABU-JAMAL
Australian Premiere for Sydney Underground Film Festival
This is a remarkable film and a moving story, which we’re very pleased to be co-presenting with Radio Skid Row and Eastside Radio, both of whom celebrate 30 years on air in 2013.

Former Black Panther Party member, continuing activist, radio journalist and author, Mumia Abu-Jamal has spent 30 years in prison, 29 of them in solitary confinement on death row. He is often referred to as Pennsylvania’s most famous inmate and his trial and incarceration have garnered extensive media attention. Yet it is his life and revolutionary spirit that have connect with people the world over and commanded more wide spread international attention as he continues to promote his message from the depths of incarceration. In Long Distance Revolutionary, documentarian Stephen Vittoria focuses on Mumia Abu-Jamal’s career as a prolific writer and journalist. Ushering the audience behind the prison walls to expose the horrors of the American gulag, the film charts a journey that defines the triumph of hope, courage and love.
