NEW OYOBI VINYL: SOMEDAY/SHIVER
Two more unmissable OYOBI cover versions pressed to vinyl and exclusive to this 45. On one side they team up with talented soul vocalist Ben Sekali for a gospel-tinged, Black Lives Matter-themed rethink of the overlooked Gap Band and Stevie Wonder tune Someday (We’ll All Be Free). On the flip, gregarious and much-loved Sydney singer Andrew Bukenya – who was one of George Benson‘s back-up vocalists when he last played the Sydney Opera House – reciprocates the love Benson showed him on tour by covering the tune that propelled George Benson afresh into the British top-20 back in 1986: Shiver. Produced in their Sydney studio, Oyobi once again prove they’re more than a muscular electronic-Latin trio with an eye to the dancefloor. Listen Here. Underpinning the soulfulness of their two new vocal collaborators, are members Vincent Sebastian‘s trademark percussive flourishes, the in-demand bottom-end creativity of bassist Adam Ventoura and the keyboard wizardry of Daniel Pliner whose work with everything from salsa bands to neo-soul and jazz combos keeps him mighty busy around town.
Released on Groovescooter’s THR33-Thirty Seven imprint, the 7″ vinyl comes in card-sleeves, with outer PVC cover, inner protective slip and stickers. Vinyl purchase includes full-quality digital downloads.
