This intimate music documentary follows Pauline Black from her adoption into a white family in 1960s Essex, through the racism, sexism, and personal trauma that shaped her identity, to her emergence as the powerful lead singer of The Selecter and the figurehead of the 2‑Tone movement. Featuring candid interviews, raw archival footage, and insights from contemporaries like Damon Albarn, Don Letts, Rhoda Dakar, and Jools Holland, the film traces Black’s journey of self-discovery, resilience, and cultural impact. Co-written with Black, it balances personal revelation and social history, weaving a moving portrait of a trailblazer who challenged norms and helped redefine British music.
