We’re delighted to have Australian musician Mick Harvey (ex-Boys Next Door/Birthday Party and Bad Seeds) join us for our In Conversation series. As always, it’s free but this time around it not only takes place surrounded by the must-see Berlin photo exhibition Brilliant Dilettantes (Geniale Dillentanten) but we’re also doing another screening of the brilliant and bristling B-Movie Lust & Sound In West Berlin on the same night with our friends at Antenna. Mick Harvey lived and played in Berlin during the period covered by the film, the 1980s. It was a decade bookended by post-punk and the birth of street dance party culture and the Love Parade. We’ll therefore be chatting to Mick about this period of trashy, druggy, anarchic, creative revival and what it was like to live and work through it alongside the film’s energetic protagonist Mark Reeder, as well as artists like Joy Division, Gudrun Gut, Blixa Bargeld, band mate Nick Cave, Einstürzende Neubauten, Malaria!, Cristiane F and DJ Westbam who all feature in the film. Mick will be chatting with Groovescooter’s Paris Pompor. Come early and check out the exhibition, watch the film and then hear Mick’s stories.
