“…a fascinating portrait of a lost world of almost-surreal
parties, rampant counter-culture and uninhibited
artistic potential.” (AU Review)

In Sydney to support his old friends New Order at their Vivid Live concerts, Mark Reeder (MFS) – the star protagonist of B-Movie: Lust & Sound In West Berlin 1979-89 – will be live In Conversation for one very special encore screening at Golden Age. This cleverly edited film has proved to be very popular at our previous screenings, and this is definitely the last chance to see it on the big screen in Sydney, now with the film’s narrator, guide and the man behind the ’80s super-8 camera which provides all the incredible archival footage of Berlin – Mark Reeder – in the cinema to talk in depth.

Spanning post-punk to Berlin’s infamous Love Parade parties, and featuring unbelievable footage of Joy Division, Gudrun Gut, Blixa Bargeld, Nick Cave, Einstürzende Neubauten, Malaria!, Cristiane F, DJ Westbam and others, B-Movie is a fast-paced, debauched trip through ‘80s Berlin and one of the most fertile artistic decades and cities in history. From personal footage of Nick Cave’s bedroom, to wild punk gigs, absurdist art performances in galleries, the birth of German techno, street protests and the eventual fall of the Berlin Wall.
