ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

NABIHAH IQBAL (UK) – the in-demand cold wave electronica act returns to Australia for a DJ set off the back of her sophomore album Dreamer out on Ninja Tune. The London-born Nabihah has hosted radio shows on NTS and BBC networks since 2013 and has performed as a DJ and live act everywhere from Glastonbury Festival to Boiler Room and Sonar.

BYRON THE AQUARIUS (USA) – is the revered Atlanta producer/keys player whose live synth shows of jazz-indebted melodies and house have been enjoyed across the world’s best clubs and drawn the attention of electronic music’s leading labels and producers. 2022 saw Byron launching his own label TALKNOI$E Records.

HABIBI FUNK (GER) – The Berliner is making his Australian debut with a set that will jump between rare 45s: sounds from the Arab & North African diaspora, plus the heavy flavours of hip-hop, disco & funk. Many will know his namesake label Habibi Funk Records and its ethical practices of giving back to artists and SWANA communities.

DJ GEMMA [AUS] – One of Sydney’s most respected & revered names & the woman behind Plutobeat, Club Kooky and Club Arak (2002-2012). Gemma is known for her vast Arabic selections & other non-Western dance music.

Also Settlement Services International (SSI) will present Homelands – a free performance/exhibition in the Masonic Centre’s marble foyer to celebrate Refugee Week. Homelands will be led by CuriousWorks’ artist Adeeb Razzouk and filmmaker Ali Rezvani.
